Do you own a blog or are you planning to start one? If so, what are the reasons why you’ve created one in the first place? Well, for a lot of people, they want to make money online and blogging happens to be one of the best in that regard (just next to affiliate marketing, that is).

Fortunately, there are plenty of ways you can start using your blog to earn money, but your success will vary depending on the amount of work you put into it.

Today, I am going to talk about the things that you can do to monetize your blog.


Affiliate Marketing

You might think that affiliate marketing and blogging are two different things and to some extent, it is. But, when it comes to making money, affiliate marketers use their blogs as their main platform of choice.

You see, the idea behind affiliate marketing is that people can earn money just by making sure that they are doing things to build their audience. And for them to build their audience, they do it by creating high-quality content.

Once you’ve established a sizable audience, your blog will become a great platform for merchants to promote their products. As a marketer, all you have to do to promote your partner merchant’s products is to add affiliate links to your content.

Affiliate links contain tracking cookies that track how many clicks it gets in any given period of time. This is important because it is the only way for your merchants to know that people have actually clicked on the said link and bought from it.

Now, how can you gain money from this? Well, since most merchants follow a pay-per-sale model, every time someone clicks on your affiliate links and buys whatever product is on offer, you will receive a percentage cut off of the sale. For instance, if the product costs $100 and you’re promised a 10% commission, then you will get $10 everytime someone uses your affiliate link.

Private Ads

Another way to earn money through blogging is by selling private ads. Just like affiliate marketing, you make sure that you have a lot of people that go to your platform on a regular basis. This makes your blog primed for ads.

You will then talk to advertisers or some of them might even be the ones to contact you. The good thing about this is the advertisers talk to you directly which means that there is no middleman- allowing you to get much higher pay.

Of course, you have to be discerning about what type of ads you want to show on your blog as showing irrelevant ones from your main content might drive people away.

Sell Digital Products

Aside from the aforementioned ideas, you can also sell digital products as well. This includes online courses, ebooks, media content such as videos or images, graphic design, themes, plugins, apps, and so much more.

Of course, it would take some time to create digital products but the good thing is that you can advertise that for free using your own blog.
